A life like Jesus


Thursday of week 4 in Ordinary Time, 2

Mark 6:7-13

All in all, David lived a fruitful, meaningful life.  God was well-pleased with him.  He conducted his affairs in complete obedience to God.  He also suffered due to sinfulness, but he was repentant.  He transmitted the faith to Solomon, his son and heir to the throne.

His life is also likened to Jesus Christ.  He also started with humble beginnings, was elected, became fruitful, suffered because of love, and rose again to leave a lasting legacy.

In the Gospel, Jesus sent his apostles to proclaim the Good News.  But he is also implanting in our his presence as live in this world.  Everything may seem ordinary, but we know it, our lives may also be the same as Jesus'.

Our humble beginnings.  We are still the weak human beings that God created when we were born till now.

Our election.  He chose us to do particular tasks and missions when we were gifted with the Holy Spirit.

Our fruitfulness.  Our work is not ours; it's his.

Our sinfulness. By our sinfulness and the sinfulness of the world, we partake in the sufferings of Jesus.

Our healing and resurrection.  Jesus heals our wounds;
we also embrace them and carry others' burdens because of love.

Let our lives reflect that of Jesus'.  They would all be meaningful.

Nag-uumapaw na pag-ibig ng Diyos

Kabanal-banalang Puso ni Hesus John 19:31-37 Sa Dakilang Kapistahan ng Kabanal-banalang Puso ni Hesus, binubuksan tayo sa isang katotohanan na ang Diyos ay pag-ibig; hindi lamang ito pag-ibig sa nibel ng isipan kundi pag-ibig sa mismong nibel ng buhay, nanunuot, nagbabasbas, at namumunga rin ng wagas na pag-ibig. Mula sa unang pagbasa, sa aklat ni propeta Hosea, ang Israel ay tinuring niyang kanyang anak, pinalaya, pinalakad, at tinuruan.   Ngunit nagdurugo ang kanyang puso sa galit; hindi nakikinig and Israel.   Ano ang kanyang gagawin?  Hindi niya sisirain ang Ephraim.  Sapagkat siya'y Diyos, hindi tao. Friday of the 3rd week of Lent Mark 12:28-34 God invites to a new life.  He calls us to forgiveness and conversion. However, we are not faithful to God.  We turn to our wealth, fame, and others for comfort and meaning.  These will not save us.  Only living in God would save us.
